It is important for all riders to understand and observe the Rules and Regulations for The Alpine Challenge or any associated Event. When entering The Alpine Challenge or any of its related events you will need to confirm that you have understood the rules and will abide by them.

Rules and Regulations

• The Participant must be 18 years or over on the start day of the event
• Safety approved cycling helmets must be worn by all Participants whilst riding the bike for the duration of the event.
• It is the Participants obligation to familiarise him/herself with the event itinerary. The event will not be delayed in the event of a Participant failing to present him/herself at the appropriate time.
• A Broom Wagon will be available for any Participant requiring a rest. If for reasons of safety or the smooth running of the event you are requested to take a ride in the Broom Wagon, you must comply. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
• Participants may not pass the lead vehicle at ANY time unless directed by a police officer of marshal.
• Participants will strictly adhere to group riding etiquette and not endanger themselves or their fellow Participants.
• Participants must seek medical advice if they are unsure about their fitness level or have any medical or health concern.
• Participants must ensure that they are fit for the start of the event.
• Participants must wear their Identification Numbers at all times whilst riding during the event.
• Riders bikes must have Identification Numbers which are provided, displayed at all times during the event.
• Participants must inform the event organizers if they feel unwell.
• Only road bikes or road tandems are permitted for the event. No time trial bars will be permitted.
• The organizers may from time to time trial a new concept e.g. a non standard road bike or younger riders.
• The Participant's bike must be in safe working order for the start of event.
• Participants may not deviate from the official route.
• Participants must obey the local traffic regulations, traffic officers.
• Marshalls and ride captains provide assistance for the smooth running of the event such as but not limited to, directions, peloton etiquette, drinks breaks etc.
• Participants are responsible for ensuring the safeness of their actions on or off the bicycle.
• Participants may not use their cell phone while riding. They must stop at the side of the road if they need to make or receive a call.
• Participants may not use a stereo headset or IPod whilst riding.
• The Tour will take place regardless of bad weather and will only be cancelled, re-routed or stopped for reasons of safety. Entry fees are not refundable, however.
• Entry to the Event is at the sole discretion of the Organizers.

WAIVER AND INDEMNITY
Participants hereby acknowledge that they take part in The Alpine Challenge ('the Event') and all functions and events related thereto entirely at their own risk.

Participants hereby agree for themselves, their executors, administrators, heirs, next-of-kin, successors and assigns to waive release and discharge and shall neither have nor institute any claims whatsoever against HotChillee Ltd ('the Organiser') and its directors, trustees and shareholders, local provincial and national governmental authorities, participating clubs, Event sponsors and other involved organisations ('the Entities') and their employees, agents or contractors to the fullest extent permissible under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 or any other applicable law.

Participants hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Entities and their employees, agents or contractors from all liability and claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of any of the Participant's actions during the Event.

This waiver and indemnity covers death, disability, personal injury, damage to and loss of property of a participant (including theft of or damage to a bicycle in areas under the control of the Entities and the Individuals) and is effective whether or not such death, injury, damage or loss may have been caused directly or indirectly or wholly or partly by any act or omission including negligence, of any of the Entities or their respective servants agents and contractors and will bind the heirs, executors and/or trustees of the estate of a participant.

Persons signing this indemnity as the parent and/or guardian of a minor hereby agree to such minor being bound by the foregoing waiver and indemnity, and do hereby further indemnify and hold harmless the Entities against any and all liability and claims by such minor to the extent if any to which such minor is not capable of waiving his rights as stipulated above.

Should liability be found to exist in respect of any one of the Entities for any reason then that liability shall not exist in respect of the other Entities unless specific grounds exist for liability on the part of the other Entity or Entities.

DECLARATION
Rider will be asked if they have read and agreed to abide by the Rules and Regulations and FAQ/Guidelines and understand they may change from time to time and be posted on the web site www.thealpinechallenge.com. That they have read and agreed to the terms of the Waiver and Indemnity above.

Riders must understand that the Event will involve prolonged strenuous activity and that they will need to achieve an appropriate level of fitness in order to participate. Before the start of the Event, if they have any concerns whatsoever about their physical fitness or health, or any medical conditions that may affect their safe participation, they will consult their Doctor. They must certify that they are physically fit and assume all the risks of participating in the Event.

If they experience any pain or discomfort during the Event they will immediately inform the Organizer. They agree to submit to any medical examination diagnosis or treatment administered by a suitably-qualified medical professional ('Medical Professional').

The medical information included on the entry form may be released by the Organizer to such Medical Professional as may be appropriate in the event of illness or an accident on the trip and they will issue consent to such medical treatment as may be deemed advisable and authorise the Organizer to notify their next of kin.

They must understand that the Event may be filmed, photographed and recorded and hereby grant permission to the event organizers to use such images and recordings of themselves.

They must certify that the information provided for this Event is true and correct.
